Hamilton County is a rural county, located in the Edwards Plateau, with a population of 8,304 as of July 1, 2017 (U.S. Census Bureau) Hico and Hamilton, the county seat, are the two main cities within the county. Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing are integral contributors to the local economy.

 The Hamilton County, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offers practical, how to education based on university research in family and consumer science, 4-H, youth development, agriculture, natural resources, home horticulture and community development.

Our Mission: Through the application of science-based knowledge, we create high-quality, relevant continuing education that encourages lasting and effective change to improve county residents’ quality of life.

Our Goals: To provide programs, tools, and resources – local and statewide- that teach people how to improve agriculture and food production, advance health practices, protect the environment, strengthen our communities, and enrich our youth.

The staff of the Hamilton County, AgriLife Extension Service is proud to serve the  citizens, landowners and residents, weekend or permanent, of Hamilton County.
